Write for us
We welcome proposals that help readers understand the customs, ingredients, language, histories and shared moments surrounding food. A strong contribution has a clear question, careful context and a subject that can be explained without treating one experience as universal.
What we welcome
Send ideas for explanatory pieces, thoughtful comparisons, cultural histories and accounts of how food terms or customs work in context. We are interested in specific subjects with a broader point readers can understand. Please explain which community, place or period your idea concerns when that context matters.
What makes a good pitch
A useful pitch gives a working title, the central question, the main point you want readers to take away and a short note on the context or source material you would draw on. Say why the subject suits Silver Food Culture and flag any limits to your perspective. Please do not send a finished article unless we have requested one.
How to propose an idea
Send your proposal through the Contact page and select the editorial question option. Include your pitch in the message so it can be considered. A proposal is not a promise of publication, and we may ask for changes to clarify scope, sourcing or cultural context.
